In case you hadn’t heard, Eater turns 20 this year. And since it wouldn’t be a party without some great food, we’re kicking off our Eater Off Menu celebration with a series of limited-edition, ultra-exclusive dish drops at some of our favorite food businesses nationwide.
To commemorate the occasion, we’ve teamed up with a dozen restaurants, bakeries, pizzerias, taco shops, ice cream parlors, and more across New York and Los Angeles to create exclusive dish collabs inspired by Eater and its coverage of food over the last 20 years. Each one-of-a-kind creation will be offered for no more than one week, rolling out throughout the summer and early fall.
It all kicks off July 29, when Brown Bag Sandwich Co. debuts an “Off Menu” lobster roll inspired by Eater’s iconic red color. Then, we’ll follow it up with other new, never-before-seen specials at different restaurants across Los Angeles and New York rolling out through September. Think: Eater-inspired disco fries at New York’s Hamburger America (smothered with gravy and cheese), a “number 38” combo special from LA’s iconic Langer’s Delicatessen (a mini version of the pastrami fries with the legendary No. 19 sandwich), a specialty Eater gummy blend from BonBon NYC, a Mr. Softee takeover, and so much more.
The current lineup of can’t miss dishes is below, with more restaurants and dates to be announced in the coming weeks. And keep an eye on Eater’s newsletters and socials to be the first to know when each unique collab drops.
It’s all part of Eater Turns 20, a three-month long tribute to the trends, the chefs, and the restaurants that defined the last two decades of American dining, experienced through a massive and exciting slate of stories, videos, and events.
