Water Resources Department to take over canal, drainage works under revised MGNREGA

In a transformative update to MGNREGA’s VB-G-RAM-G framework, the Water Resources Department (WRD) is now responsible for critical tasks such as canal earth removal, embankment fortification, and draining waterlogged zones. These responsibilities, formerly managed by the Rural Development Department for canals operating below 20 cusecs, are aimed at enhancing the efficiency of scheme execution.
