The Cult-Fave Moccamaster Coffee Machine Is 50% Off for Prime Day

On the spectrum of effortlessly cool kitchen appliances, the Technivorm Moccamaster ranks pretty damn high. Long have I coveted my friend’s yellow pepper iteration, beloved for its ability to brew five cups of coffee in just five minutes, all while looking like it should be starring in Moonrise Kingdom. Luckily for me, the iconic and versatile off-white colorway just went on sale for 50 percent off during Amazon Prime Day.

Where to Buy:

You might recognize the Moccamaster from Carmy’s kitchen in The Bear, which makes sense; The Moccamaster embodies effortlessly cool, no-fuss coffee-prep, and captures so much of what makes Scandinavian mid-century modern design iconic. Designed in the Netherlands in 1968 by Gerard-Clement Smit, the coffee machine was given a satisfyingly modular, serviceable design (I love that it still includes a hot plate), and the machines remain service-based to date (meaning: if anything ever breaks, you can contact the team or easily find a replacement part online). Moccamasters are also free of BPA and phthalate plastics (no wonder Gwyneth Paltrow has one in her Montecito guest house), and are still manufactured in the same town of Amerongen in the Netherlands where they were born.

Now, for a few specs: the machine has an impressively quiet brewing process, and is designed with a manual-adjust system that lets you control the brewing speed/amount of coffee made (as in, you can brew anywhere from roughly 1 to 6 cups). The interior copper heating element ensures that the water reaches an ideal temperature (between 197 and 205 degrees Fahrenheit) for avoiding any bitterness, resulting in a smooth, evenly brewed cup that feels more single-pour adjacent than, say, a cup from the clunky Bunn machine I had in college (no shade; it also got the job done).

Like all coffee-lovers, I have tested the gamut of coffee-making methods; I keep two Bodum French presses on-hand for coffee and tea, respectively. I declared myself a Moka pot devotee after my first trip to Europe (lol), only to circle back to the single cup, pour-over coffee method that fueled so much of the 2010s indie music cafe scene. But it wasn’t until I started seeing Moccamasters popping up in my most stylish friends’ apartments (and my own TikTok feed) that I realized I had finally pinned down the ideal multi-cup, workhorse coffee maker to add to the fold. Typically, these beauties will run you almost $400 with shipping — so if you’ve been debating the investment, this Amazon Prime Day deal is a pretty sweet time to bring it home while it’s under $200.

The Moccamaster is currently on sale for up to 50% off at Amazon, and check out more of Eater’s Prime Day coverage here.
