Telangana first state to implement SC categorisation, issues orders
Telangana has become the first state in India to implement Scheduled Castes (SC) categorisation, following the assent of the Governor on April 8, 2025. The government order, issued on BR Ambedkar's birth anniversary, divides 59 SC communities into three groups with varying reservation percentages for government jobs and education, based on the Justice Shameem Akther Commission's recommendations.
