On Sunday night, the Sri Lankan navy apprehended ten Indian fishermen along with their trawler for allegedly poaching in their territorial waters. The fishermen were among over 500 who had set sail from Mandapam harbour. They were taken to the Talaimannar naval base and later handed over to fisheries officials, with court proceedings expected soon.
