'Rise in bad loans to hit bank profits in FY26'

Indian banks' profitability is predicted to decline in FY26 due to rising slippages and higher credit costs compared to FY24 levels. The financial stress is expected to arise mainly from unsecured retail exposure. In FY25, profitability will reach an inflection point following a peak in FY24, said India Ratings and Research.
