Red alert in Palakkad, Malappuram as UV radiation shoots up in Kerala
The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) issued a UV index alert for Kerala, placing Palakkad and Malappuram on red alert with an index of 11. Six other districts, including Kollam and Ernakulam, are on orange alert. Exposure to direct sunlight may cause sunburns within 30-60 minutes due to high UV radiation.
