North Bengal floods man-made, DVC unilaterally releasing water to save Jharkhand: Mamata Banerjee
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee termed north Bengal floods man-made. She blamed the DVC for unrestricted water release causing widespread destruction. Twenty-three lives were lost in the floods and landslides. The Chief Minister announced five lakh rupees compensation for victims' families. A home guard job was also offered to one family member.
