West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday visited several polling booths in her Bhabanipur constituency as voting continued in the second and final phase of the Assembly elections amid tight security. Bhabanipur, her political stronghold, is witnessing a high-profile contest seen as a symbolic rematch with Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, who had defeated her in Nandigram in 2021. Voting is underway across 142 constituencies in Kolkata and six other districts, with polling beginning at 7 am and continuing till 6 pm, while the first phase had recorded a high turnout of 93.19 per cent. Counting of votes will take place on May 4.
