From baskets to jewellery: Bamboo skill training to open new markets for PVTG tribals in Chhattisgarh
Udanti-Sitanadi Tiger Reserve launched a bamboo plantation drive and handicraft workshop on World Bamboo Day, empowering local artisans, especially PVTG communities. Around 1,200 bamboo saplings were planted, and artisans received training from Neera Sarma to create jewellery and high-value artifacts. The initiative aims to enhance livelihoods by moving beyond traditional crafts to produce marketable items.
