Bhopal court sentences bank officials and buyer for fraudulent land auction
Four officials and one buyer have been sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 2000 each for illegally auctioning 3.5 acres of land worth Rs. 1.76 lakh for just Rs. 50,000. The land, mortgaged by a farmer in 1985-86 for a loan, was sold at extremely low rates without the loanee's knowledge.
