23 years on, six forest officials await justice in Mathikettan issue
Their plight came to the fore after the recent demise of V.S. Achuthanandan who had spearheaded the campaign to rid Mathikettan Shola of encroachers. Six Forest officials were suspended in 2002 for a year and a half, citing support to encroachers. Though a Vigilance court acquitted them in 2024, their service benefits are yet to be restored
