Yashoda Maa’s ‘pathshalas’ lend Bhubaneswar slum kids a voice in Odia
In Bhubaneswar's slums, Nibedita Lenka, known as Yashoda Maa, champions Odia language learning for underprivileged children. Her five Barnabodha Pathshalas, self-funded and run by local volunteers, offer two hours of daily instruction in reading, writing, and speaking Odia, alongside social values and arts. These centers, supporting 150 children, aim to strengthen foundational language skills, particularly for first-generation learners.
