Surrendered Maoist couple in Odisha appeal to comrades to shun violence
A top CPI (Maoist) leader, Niranjan Rout alias Nikhil, along with his wife and several cadres, surrendered, urging former comrades to abandon violence. Nikhil stated the armed struggle has lost its way and urged them to join the mainstream for democratic change. Their surrender is expected to significantly weaken Maoist influence in the region.
