South Eastern Railway Installs Elephant & Cattle Barriers on Asanboni-Jharsuguda Section to Prevent Wildlife Collisions
South Eastern Railway is installing metal and net-type steel barriers along the Asanboni-Jharsuguda section to prevent train accidents involving cattle and elephants. This initiative, costing Rs 193 crore, includes 270 km of fencing and dedicated 15 km stretches for elephant barriers. Joint surveys identified vulnerable spots, leading to plans for elephant underpasses as well.
