Albert Herpin, was born in France in 1862, but lived in Trenton, New Jersey. According to various reports, Albert claims that he developed a rare case of insomnia somewhere around 1882, after the death of his wife. Post that, he said, he lost all desire to sleep, and increasingly started to sleep less, and eventually altogether, or so he claims. According to Herpin, he even gave statements in the press saying that he does not believe that a person actually needs sleep, and he will prove it
