JD(U) only party to field Muslim women in assembly elections in last two decades
The JD(U) has consistently fielded Muslim women for assembly elections in Bihar over the past two decades, a precedent initially set by the Congress. The party has renominated Shagufta Azim in Araria, and previously saw two Muslim women elected as MLAs on JD(U) tickets in 2010. The Congress had earlier elected Beula Doza from Seemanchal in the post-Independence era.
