German Super Cup to be renamed after football legend Franz Beckenbauer
The German Super Cup will be renamed the Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup from 2025 onwards, honoring the late football legend. Beckenbauer, who died earlier this year, captained West Germany to World Cup victory in 1974 and also won the trophy as manager in 1990. The inaugural Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup is scheduled for August 16, 2025.
