IISc’s Centres of Excellence under Rs 16,300-crore mission to push India’s critical minerals self-reliance
IISc has been designated a Centre of Excellence under the Ministry of Mines' National Critical Minerals Mission. The initiative aims to secure India's critical mineral supply chain and foster self-reliance through indigenous technology development. IISc will establish an Integrated Critical Minerals R&D Facility, focusing on scalable extraction, processing, and recycling technologies to reduce import dependence.
